B.U.I.L.D. stands for Building Up Important Lives and Dreams.

B.U.I.L.D. is a 9-month, career-training program that helps prepare young people for careers. You must be 16-24 to participate. If you haven’t finished high school or aren’t sure what job you want, this could be for you.

If you participate in B.U.I.L.D.:

  • You’ll receive hands-on experience in construction, hospitality, transportation or business.
  • You’ll also learn professional and personal development skills needed to succeed such as handling finances and community responsibility.
  • You’ll hear inspiring stories from others like you who have become successful in their careers despite the obstacles they faced.
  • You’ll receive nationally-recognized, industry certification credentials.

At the end of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to get a job or paid apprenticeship. You can immediately start making livable wages. You may also be able to afford college while working.

There are 3 B.U.I.L.D. programs plus “B.U.I.L.D. Days.”

The rest of this page is about our B.U.I.L.D. Construction program.

Rehabbing in the Community

A lot of the hands-on experience comes from the opportunity to work on real job sites rehabbing properties in Chicago communities.

Currently, most of our rehabbing is done in Englewood and the Roseland Community. So as you’re learning construction, you’ll also be creating affordable, quality housing for residents.
